The short version
Flock of Ten is a single-player game for children and the adults beside them. Play it, enjoy it, don't try to break it or resell it. It is free to download; the ten Make 10 boards are free and do not expire, and an optional one-time purchase opens the later boards. It is a game, not a course or a test, and it is provided as-is.
1. Acceptance
By downloading or playing Flock of Ten ("the game"), you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the game.
2. Who may use it
The game is made for children, but a child cannot accept terms like these. If the player is under the age at which they can agree to them where you live, a parent or guardian accepts these terms on the child's behalf and is responsible for the child's use of the game, including any purchase. The terms of the store you downloaded from also apply — Apple's for the App Store, Google's for Google Play.
3. Your licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and play the game on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use. Using it with your own children or with the pupils you teach is welcome and is within this licence.
You may not sell, rent, sublicense, or redistribute the game; reverse-engineer or decompile it except where the law expressly permits; remove or alter any notices; or use it to build a competing product.
4. Price, the free boards, and the purchase
Flock of Ten is free to download and contains no advertising of any kind.
The ten Make 10 boards are free and do not expire. There is no trial period and no limit on how often they may be played.
An optional in-app purchase opens the later boards. It is a one-time purchase, not a subscription. Current pricing is shown in the store listing and inside the game, in your local currency, before you buy. The purchase is offered behind an “Ask a grown-up” step and is meant to be made by an adult.
All purchases are processed by the store you bought from, Apple or Google. We never see or handle your payment details. Refunds are that store's to grant under its own policy, not ours, though you are welcome to contact us if something has gone wrong and we will help where we can.
Because the purchase is tied to your Apple Account or Google Account rather than to a device, reinstalling the game or moving to a new device lets you restore it. The game provides a Restore button for exactly this. A purchase made on one platform does not carry across to the other, because the two stores hold separate records.
5. No accounts
The game has no accounts and no sign-in. Anything it remembers is stored on your device. If you delete the app, lose your device, or reset it, that is gone and we have no copy to restore. A purchase can still be restored through the store.
6. A game, not a guarantee
Flock of Ten is a game that lets children practise number bonds and related arithmetic. It is not a curriculum, a course of instruction, or an assessment, and it does not replace a teacher. We make no promise about what any child will learn from playing it, or about results at school.
7. Intellectual property
The game and everything in it — code, artwork, the birds, board designs, sound, and the Flock of Ten name and identity — belong to TechArtists and are protected by copyright and other laws. Your licence to play does not transfer ownership of any of it.
You are welcome to record, stream, and publish video of your own play, including monetised video, and to show the game in a classroom, provided you do not present the game as your own work.
8. Updates and availability
We may update, change, or discontinue the game or any part of it at any time. We are not obliged to maintain any particular feature, and content described on this site may change before release. Boards may be added, retuned, or reordered in later versions.
9. Disclaimer
The game is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of defects.
10. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, TechArtists is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of the game. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the game or ten US dollars.
Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so they may not apply to you.
11. Termination
This licence ends automatically if you breach these terms. You may end it at any time by deleting the game.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of Texas, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Nothing here removes consumer rights that your local law grants you and does not allow to be waived.
13. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms. The date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continuing to play after a change means you accept it.
