Tap birds that add to 10.
Birds have landed in the tree, and each one wears a number. Tap a flock that adds up to 10 and they fly off. The ones above drop into the gap. Clear the tree.

Meet the flock
Every bird wears its number on a tag, plain and easy to read. The number is the bird.

How it plays
One idea per turn: these birds add to 10. There is no clock and nothing to lose, so there is always time to count.
1
The birds sit in rows on their branches. Look for numbers that belong together.
2
Tap the birds you want. The game adds them up as you go.
3
When the flock makes 10, tap it again and off they fly. A flock that makes 8 is told so: “8 — need 10”.
4
The birds above drop into the gap and make new neighbours. Keep going until the tree is empty.
Number bonds
A 4 sitting beside a 6 is the whole lesson. The boards begin with one pair at a time, then mix them, then bring in flocks of three.

5Two ways to choose
The same boards play two ways. Pick one from the menu above the tree.
Pick birds from any part of the tree. A 1 on the left and a 9 on the right make 10. This is where everyone starts.
Now the birds must touch: side by side, or one above another. Each clear changes who sits next to whom, so it pays to look one drop ahead.
The game
These are the game itself, on a phone and on a tablet. It is still in testing, so details may change before release.

For grown-ups and teachers
Flock of Ten is made for ages 5 to 8, and for the adult sitting beside them. It practises the number bonds to 10 that early-years classes already teach. There is no quiz in front of the game: adding to 10 is the game.
The instructions are short enough to read aloud, and a child can explain the rule to a friend in one sentence.
Calm by design
Later flocks
For older children the same tree carries bigger ideas, one rule to a board: sums to 20 and to 100, products, fractions that make 1, and positive and negative numbers that make 0. The birds and the tap stay the same.
Free to start
The ten Make 10 boards are free and do not expire — pairs, triples and a review, in both ways of choosing. A one-time purchase opens the later flocks. It is offered only on its own screen, with an “Ask a grown-up” step, and never after a wrong answer. No subscription.
